The Challenges of Competing for Public Contracts as a Small Business (Part II)

We are not against anyone, but we are for equity. -Joseph Gould, Jr.

Here and across the country, every sector - city, state, federal, transit systems, school districts, and more - has their own small business programs and processes. Systems and paperwork can be so hard to manage that it feels impossible for a small firm to get out of the maze.

Then, once you have your certifications, it's up to you to take time to do bid searches and actively pursue procurement activities on a daily basis. There are also numerous community outreach events to attend, agency websites to navigate, meetings to request. All this on top of taking care of your clients, employees, and the running of your business.
